Why I Left The CCM Movement

This book is an excellent read. The author, Lucarini, has the clout to speak on this issue, having been a former CCM worship leader. His use of scripture in its proper context as his ultimate authority gives the book validity, and I believe it is a must read for any church leader, in fact any Christian. It has certainly clarified my concerns over the CCM industry, as well as the root of my taste and preferences in music, both Christian and secular. God desires holiness and humility in worship. Much of today's CCM does not encourage this, and you will see what I mean as Lucarini humbly, gently, yet firmly sheds light on this controversial subject.

As a former secular rock musician I too bought into the lie of CCM when I gave my life to Christ. I found that when I played the CCM I began to get some of those old feelings back (rebellion, pride, etc). It wasn't until I read the Bible - our final authority - that I saw why we are not to mix worship with pagan music. When I discuss this issue with those like myself who once accepted it I ask this question, "Where did you get your music background from?" and almost 100% of the time it was from the world. Replies by those who accept CCM are generally about 'thoughts and feelings, not the Bible. I believe God deserves better then CCM worship, which has its roots in secular Rock & Roll which in turn has its roots in demonic voodoo. Dan Lucarini does an excellent job with this book. I would encourage any worship leader, indeed anyone involved in the CCM movement, to read it.
