Who is the True Jesus? DVD Debate

In October 2000, the Faith & Science Lecture Forum hosted an engagement to discuss the question, "Who is the true Jesus?" Peggy Wehmeyer, former religion correspondent for ABC News, moderated the debate.

Representing the Muslim perspective was Mr. Shabir Ally, a prominent Muslim speaker and debater. He was formally trained with Dr. Jamal Badawi and is the founder of the Islamic Information and Da'wah Centre in Toronto, Canada. Representing the Christian side was Mr. Jay Smith, a Ph.D. candidate in Islamic studies at Brunel University in London. Mr. Smith is widely acknowledged as one of the leading authorities on Islam and the historicity of the Koran. He has participated in many debates that have included distinguished opponents such as Benazir Bhuto, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan.

The event format includes 2 hours of presentations and rebuttals with a lively exchange of ideas and worldviews. The dialogue was direct and challenging, yet handled with respect, cordiality and sometimes even humour. An additional hour included answers to questions submitted by the audience.
